What is it all about ? Telecine has been, for years already, at the heart of the post-production process for feature films, TV programs and even video originated material.The telecine is used for different purposes : -transfer dailies for non-linear editing -transfer and color correct film originated TV material ( TV master of feature films, commercials, music promos, documentaries ) -scanning of camera original material for film post-production (VFX, Digital intermediate) Since the telecine process is a major part of the creative process when working for post-production, the input of the telecine colorist is paramount in the quest for the "different look". Hence the importance of a good communication with the director of photography, the director, and any person who needs to take part in the creative part of the project.
Evolution Lately, the telecine has been the object of major changes in terms of technology (performance has tremendously evolved in terms of resolution and power of the color correction systems), and is therefore more and more used in the field of digital intermediate. What is D.I ? D.I. is a process where post-production for a feature film is done mainly in the digital world.
